Dr Neil Vanza is a specialist anaesthetist in both public and private practice in Sydney, Australia. His areas of expertise include anaesthesia for orthopaedic, major cancer, obstetric, gynaecological, cardiac electrophysiology, head and neck, and ophthalmic surgery. He has sub-specialized in regional anaesthesia (nerve blocks).
Graduating with Honours from the University of New South Wales in Sydney in 2003, he completed anaesthetic training at St George Hospital, a large tertiary centre providing surgical services in trauma, cancer care, obstetrics and paediatrics. His first fellowship was completed at Concord Hospital and he was awarded his FANZCA (Fellow of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) in July 2013.
A second fellowship was completed at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, Canada, which has the largest trauma and cancer care centre in Canada. During this fellowship he spent 50% of his time performing regional anaesthesia (nerve blocks) under ultrasound guidance. Dr Vanza believes regional anaesthesia is an excellent modality in post operative pain management.
Dr Vanza has a passion for teaching. He has been the coordinator for the ANZCA ASM (Annual Scientific Meeting) Regional Workshops in 2018 and 2023, with the aim of teaching regional anaesthesia to consultant anaesthetists from all over Australia and New Zealand. Currently he is the supervisor of the St George Hospital Regional Anaesthesia Program and provides fortnightly tutorials to anaesthetic trainees.
Outside of anaesthesia and medicine, Dr Vanza is married with 2 children. His interests are spending time with family, running, yoga and travel.

Dr Lindy Lowenstein will be your anaesthetist for your up coming procedure.
Dr Lindy Lowenstein is a Specialist Anaesthetist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
Practicing across both public and private hospitals in Sydney, Lindy anaesthetises across a range of specialties including paediatric and adult ENT, dental, major cancer, urology, gynaecology and neurosurgery.
Lindy completed anaesthetic training at Westmead Hospital, with fellowships at St George Hospital and St Michael's Hospital, Toronto.
Dr Lowenstein is a mother of 2 young children and is fantastic with kids. Children should be prepared to enter her "spaceship" (as she calls the operating theatre) and are frequently sung off to sleep when required!

I am a specialist anaesthetist with sub-specialty training in paediatric anaesthesia. I completed the bulk of my anaesthesia training at St George Hospital in Sydney. Following this, I pursued my passion for paediatric anaesthesia with formal sub-specialty training at The Children's Hospital Westmead in 2019. I've since remained at the Children's Hospital as a part-time specialist anaesthetist, helping to care for some of the sickest children in NSW. I have also completed additional fellowship time learning the unique skills of regional anaesthesia, and enjoy being able to provide this service where indicated. Today I provide anaesthesia services to patients of all ages in both the public and private sector around Sydney. I really enjoy the challenge and variety that my work mixture brings me and I look forward to caring for you soon.

Dr Michael Tobin is a specialist anaesthetist in both public and private practice in Sydney, Australia.
His areas of interest include anaesthesia for orthopaedic, dental, colorectal, urological, and gastrointestinal surgery.
Following a degree in Science (Advanced), Dr Tobin excelled in his medical degree at the University of Sydney. He was awarded the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Prize in 2013 for placing first in his cohort in critical care studies. Dr Tobin completed anaesthetic training at Concord Hospital, with specialised terms in paediatrics (Westmead Children's Hospital) and cardiothoracic surgery (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital). He undertook two fellowships, the first at Concord Hospital and a second at St George Hospital in Sydney. Dr Tobin was awarded his FANZCA (Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) in 2022.
Dr Tobin has a keen interest in teaching and lifelong education. As the Education Fellow at St George Hospital he was responsible for coordinating advanced simulation sessions, exam preparation, and departmental education sessions. He continues to mentor junior anaesthetic doctors and participates in ongoing professional development including regular attendance at national and international anaesthetic conferences.
Outside of medicine, Dr Tobin is married with two children. His interests include photography, travel, and snowboarding.

After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery in 2010, I completed further specialist training at St George Hospital, a major trauma centre with large volumes of complex patients and surgical subspecialties, before going on to complete a general fellowship at Prince of Wales Hospital with further experience in paediatrics, cardiothoracic, airway and regional anaesthesia. I have a special interest in perioperative medicine, regional anaesthesia and airway. After obtaining my fellowship with the Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, I ran the preadmission clinic at Bankstown Hospital for 2 years, and am actively involved in teaching regional anaesthesia and an ANZCA recognised CICO/Vortex Airway course.
I have a diverse range of skills and regularly practice anaesthesia for medically complex upper GI patients including major cancer surgery and weight loss surgery, high risk obstetrics, ophthalmology, orthopaedic surgery, breast surgery, and gynaecological surgery. I routinely practice regional anaesthesia as part of a multimodal pain management approach for acute pain in the context of surgery and rib fractures and regularly assist with the pain service at Bankstown Hospital.
